The staycation trend is showing no sign of slowing down, with the latest report from Sykes revealing that the average Brit takes up to three UK trips per year. It can be a thoroughly enjoyable way to get a fresh perspective on a UK town and also to enjoy a property you might otherwise have missed out on. I spent two nights at Brightham House in Devon and decided that you need to visit asap!
THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE BRIGHTHAM HOUSE
Whether you are seeking a family holiday, a perfect romantic break or a special celebration; Brightham House in Devon will make it that little bit more memorable. From the moment you arrive, the vintage funfair-esque entrance neon lights reveal, “There’s no place like Brightham House”. Go through to the luxe light and airy lounge where you might meet resident dog and heart-stealer Lola. From there, shimmy into the conservatory dining area with its flavour of tropical tranquillity. Venture upstairs and find among the eight rooms (twin, double and king) the Pavilion Room, with elegant Art Deco accents, and the Preston Circus Room, channelling big top brilliance that combines playfulness and panache – a show for which Brightham House’s ringmasters have received a standing ovation more than once. Staying in the Dartmoor themed room we were treated to outstanding facilities such as their outdoor hot tub, fitness hut, award-winning breakfast and exquisite interior design. Brightham House is a bustling boutique beauty of a B&B, celebrated for its unique Brighton-meets-Devon style and chilled vibe, nestled in An Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) between coastline and countryside.
The award winning boutique Bed & Breakfast is located in the vibrant and stunning area of Salcombe. Perfectly positioned to explore the area of outstanding natural beauty and enjoy the picturesque estuary towns, villages of Kingsbridge all in the South Hams, famous for its beaches, sailing and stunning coastline. With views across the hills and towards Hope Cove, Brightham House is set in a large, three-storey welcoming Victorian styled villa with bags of character. We found that having a car was the easiest form of getting around and to explore what Devon has to offer, however, there is plenty to see and do by foot. Our favourite nearby town was the stunning Riviera-styled Dartmouth.
Brightham House offers homely luxury, with beautiful décor, new comfortable beds for a great night’s sleep, immaculate and modern bathrooms, fresh white, high-grade cotton linen and fluffy towels. Each of their eight bedrooms are uniquely and individually decorated and designed in a chic style. All rooms are en-suite and most with countryside and village views. They offer the feel of a luxury hotel, with the homeliness of a B&B.
Brightham House is a home from home yet an escape from the norm. With plenty to see and do in the local area, we can't recommend a better place to stay.
